About the Role

Our client is an seeking talented and enthusiastic Electrical Engineering Technologist to provide project administration/drafting support to their Engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity to expand your knowledge of electrical utility systems, while working in a great team environment at a reputable company.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

. Supports Junior and Senior Electrical Engineers in a team environment
. Primarily performs contract administration functions including tender preparation, award, quantity review, completion and assumption work, including “as constructed” documentation
. Performs subdivision inspections during construction, and for maintenance assumption reviews
. Attends design and project coordination meetings as required
. Summarizes parts and materials from available literature and database
. Reads and interprets engineering drawings and specifications
. Understands and follows utility and municipal standards
. Maintains project information, drawings, files, spreadsheets, and records
. Prepares simple to moderately complex engineering drawings using 2D computer-aided design software and supporting calculations and documentation.
. Generates drawings in various formats for approval and/or use by project stakeholders
. Understands electrical distribution systems in order to design and modify drawings
. Performs project, administration functions including but not limited to drawing distribution and management, coordination and communication with project stakeholders
. Works occasional evenings or weekends to meet deadlines
. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Graduate of college program in Electrical Engineering Technical c/w drafting/CAD training

  • Understanding of electrical distribution systems preferred

  • Familiarity with utility industry construction practices and OHSA regulations preferred

  • Computer literate, with working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of programs

  • Detailed working knowledge of AutoCAD and MicroStation drafting software

  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills – good command of the English language, written and oral

  • Able to work well in a team environment, with minimal supervision

  • Creative and detail oriented independent thinker

  • Must have a valid Ontario driver’s license and own car

  • Experience in the Utility industry preferred.
